  • How Our Rubbish Clearance Service Works

How Our Rubbish Clearance Service Works

If you have never booked a clearance before, it can be hard to know what actually happens on the day. This page walks you through how our rubbish clearance service works from your very first call right through to Before loading begins, it also helps to check what we take and what we cannot take so there are no surprises on the day.

By the end, you will understand the full rubbish clearance process step by step, so you know exactly what to expect when our team arrives at your property in London or Surrey.

We arrange everything by phone. There is no need to send photos by email or fill in long forms – just call us and we will talk through the job, give you a clear quote and book a convenient time.

Call Now to Book

Step 1 – Your phone call enquiry

Every job starts with a simple phone call. That is where how rubbish clearance works really begins.

When you call, we will:

  • Take your name and the address where the clearance is needed
  • Ask what type of property or site it is (house, flat, office, shop, garage, garden, etc.)
  • Get a rough idea of what needs removing and how much there is
  • Check any special access issues, such as stairs, parking or narrow entrances

This is the first part of the rubbish removal process. The more detail you can give us, the more accurate your quote will be. You do not have to list every single item; a sensible overview is usually enough.

If you are not sure how to describe the job, do not worry. Our team will ask the right questions to build a clear picture of what is involved.

Step 2 – A few quick questions so we understand the job

To keep the rubbish clearance process smooth, we use your call to understand the key details:

  • Volume: a single room, a few bulky items, a whole house or regular collections?
  • Type of waste: general household rubbish, furniture, appliances, garden waste, DIY rubble or mixed waste?
  • Access: ground floor, upper floors, lifts, tight staircases, long walk from parking?
  • Timing: standard slot or does it need same-day or next-day collection?

This is also when we check for anything that might need special handling, such as:

  • Very heavy or awkward items (pianos, safes, large machinery)
  • Items we sometimes cannot take without planning, such as large loads of rubble or soil
  • Things that need a specialist service (for example, asbestos)

All of this feeds into how our rubbish clearance service works for your particular job, so we can give you a quote that is both fair and realistic.

Step 3 – Clear, no-obligation quote

Once we understand the job, we explain the price before you book. A good rubbish clearance process should never involve surprise costs on the driveway.

On the phone, we will tell you:

  • The likely price or price range for the work
  • What is included in that price (labour, loading, disposal and basic recycling)
  • What could change the price on the day (for example, if the volume is much higher than described)

If the job is straightforward and you have given a good description, the quote you receive by phone is usually the price you pay. If it is a more complex job, we may explain that the team will confirm the exact figure on arrival once they have seen everything.

There is no pressure. If you want to think about it, you can simply call back. If you are happy with the quote, we move to the next part of the rubbish removal process – booking your time slot.

Step 4 – Booking a convenient time slot

When you are ready to go ahead, we agree a date and time window that works for you. This is where you will see how rubbish clearance works in a way that fits around your day.

We will:

  • Offer you available days and time windows (morning, afternoon, or a specific slot)
  • Check any building or parking restrictions that affect when we can attend
  • Confirm who will be on site to meet the team
  • Make a note of any special instructions (for example, security gates or entry codes)

For urgent or same-day rubbish clearance, we explain what we can realistically do that day, depending on existing bookings. Either way, a clear slot in the diary keeps the rubbish clearance process predictable and stress-free.

Step 5 – Arrival window and on-site walk-through

On the day, the crew aims to arrive within the agreed window. As soon as they arrive, the on-site part of the rubbish removal process begins.

Typically they will:

  • Introduce themselves and confirm the scope of the job
  • Walk through the property or site with you to see everything that needs to go
  • Check access routes, staircases and doorways
  • Point out anything that might need extra time or special handling

If your description on the phone matched what they see on site, the quoted price stands. If there is a significant difference (for example, much more waste than expected or very difficult access), they will explain this clearly and confirm any adjusted price before they start work.

You are always in control. If you are happy, the team gets going. If you decide not to proceed, you are free to say so at this stage.

Step 6 – Safe loading and careful handling

Once you confirm you are happy to go ahead, the main loading stage of the rubbish clearance process starts.

Here is how rubbish removal works on site:

  • The crew brings their tools, sacks and equipment into position
  • They remove items from the property, room by room, as agreed
  • Heavy or awkward items are handled by two people or more where needed
  • Waste is loaded safely into the vehicle, with care taken to protect walls, doors and floors

Good rubbish clearance process is about more than just speed. We focus on:

  • Moving carefully in tight spaces
  • Keeping shared areas like hallways clean and accessible
  • Being mindful of neighbours and noise, especially in flats and terraces

You do not need to help with lifting. Part of how our rubbish clearance service works is that we provide the labour as well as the vehicle and disposal.

Step 7 – Sorting, recycling and responsible disposal

As we load the vehicle, we think about where each type of waste will go. This is an important part of the rubbish removal process.

In practice, that means:

  • Keeping obvious recyclables separate where practical
  • Making sure appliances and electricals go into proper WEEE recycling
  • Ensuring general waste goes to licensed transfer stations
  • Avoiding shortcuts that might lead to fly-tipping or poor disposal

You do not have to sort items yourself, but if you want to highlight anything that could potentially be reused or recycled, you can do so during the walk-through.

Once the vehicle leaves, everything goes to authorised facilities. A responsible rubbish clearance process does not end when we drive away; it ends when your waste has been properly dealt with.

Step 8 – Final sweep, paperwork and payment

Before the crew leaves, there are a few final steps that complete the rubbish removal process:

  • They check the cleared areas with you so you can see what has been removed
  • Any obvious loose debris created by the clearance itself is swept or gathered up
  • For commercial or larger jobs, any agreed paperwork or waste documentation is completed
  • Payment is taken using the method agreed when you booked

If you notice anything missed, this is your chance to flag it. A good rubbish clearance process always includes a quick check together to make sure everything has gone as planned.

What affects your price (and what does not)

The detailed breakdown of costs sits on our pricing pages, but it helps to understand, in simple terms, how price fits into how rubbish clearance works.

Things that usually affect price:

  • Volume of waste: the more space your load takes in the vehicle, the more it costs
  • Weight and type of waste: heavy materials like rubble, soil and wet wood cost more to dispose of than light household items
  • Access: long carries, multiple flights of stairs or very difficult access can add time and cost
  • Location and timing: certain areas or out-of-hours slots may be more complex to reach

Things that usually do not change the price, once agreed:

  • Normal variation in small items (for example, a few extra bags)
  • Reasonable adjustments while we are still on site, if the crew can fit them in the original load

If you want a more detailed breakdown of costs, our dedicated pricing pages explain the financial side of the rubbish clearance process in more depth. This page is here to show how our rubbish clearance service works in practical day-to-day terms.

Same-day and urgent rubbish clearance – what is different?

The rubbish removal process for urgent jobs is similar, but everything moves faster.

When you call about a same-day or next-day job, we:

  • Check what slots are realistically available that day
  • Ask very focused questions so we can quote accurately without delay
  • Explain clearly what we can do immediately and what may need a follow-up visit

On arrival, the crew will:

  • Confirm the scope quickly
  • Prioritise the most urgent areas first (for example, blocking items or key rooms)
  • Work steadily and safely, even though the timescale is tight

The core rubbish clearance process does not change – we still load, sort, recycle and dispose responsibly – but the timetable is compressed to help you solve your problem as quickly as possible.

How we minimise disruption and protect your property

A well-managed rubbish clearance process gets everything out without leaving a trail of damage behind. As part of how rubbish removal works with us, we:

  • Plan routes that reduce the risk of scuffs and knocks
  • Move large items carefully, especially on staircases and tight corners
  • Keep doors and gates secure where possible while we work
  • Treat communal areas in flats and shared houses with respect

If you have particular worries – for example, brand new flooring, fragile bannisters or recently painted walls – mention them when you call. We can then build that into how our rubbish clearance service works at your property and explain what extra care we will take.

FAQs about the rubbish clearance process

Do I need to bag everything before you arrive?
Not necessarily. As part of our rubbish clearance process, we can bag loose items on site. If you want to bag things yourself to save time, that is fine, but it is not required.

Do I have to help with lifting?
No. A key part of how rubbish removal works with us is that we supply the labour. You do not have to lift or carry anything; just point out what needs to go.

Can I add extra items on the day?
Often yes, as long as there is still space in the vehicle and it does not change the nature of the job. The crew will let you know if adding items alters the agreed price. The rubbish removal process works best when any changes are discussed openly on site.

What if you arrive and there is more waste than I described?
If the volume is significantly higher, the team will explain this and confirm a new price before starting. A transparent rubbish clearance process means no work begins until you are happy with any adjustment.

How long does a typical clearance take?
It depends on the size of the job and access. A single room can be very quick, while a full house clearance may take several hours. When you call, we can give you an estimated duration as part of explaining how our rubbish clearance service works for your job.

What happens to my waste after it leaves?
We take it to licensed facilities where it is sorted, recycled where possible and disposed of properly. Responsible disposal is an essential part of the rubbish clearance process, not an optional extra.

Call us to talk through your rubbish clearance process

The easiest way to see how our rubbish clearance service works for your situation is simply to call. In a short conversation we can:

  • Walk you through the rubbish clearance process step by step for your property
  • Give you a clear quote based on what you tell us
  • Explain how rubbish removal works on the day, from arrival to payment
  • Answer any questions you have about timing, access, recycling or documentation

Once you are comfortable with the rubbish removal process, we book a convenient slot and take care of the rest – from your first call to the final sweep-up, with no forms or email back-and-forth needed.

We used this company on recommendation of another trade that we trust, so I was confident they would do a good job. Rob responded to my message, visited to give a quote and was able to remove our waste on the same day. We agreed payment by bank transfer. We had a large job of old flooring, fencing and general household waste. Rob did the work quickly and efficiently and left our front garden looking the best it has done in weeks. Overall, he did a great job for us and also really appreciated how friendly and professional they were too. Would happily recommend and If we need a pickup in the future he would be the first person we would call.

We used Rob to dissemble, and remove our garden shed, as well as a few other garden items. He was professional, diligent, earnest and really lovely to work with. Reasonably priced too! He worked incredibly hard to sort out quite a complicated setup, and was very transparent - explaining everything to us as he was going along. Couldn’t recommend him enough and will deffo be using him again in the future. Thanks Rob!

I never met Rob in person but that did not take away from the quality of the service provided. I contacted Rob to ask if he could remove a green house from a property we had just purchased (but were not yet living in). He asked for a day or two to check his schedule and confirm his availability. Rob then got back to me the next day and said he could be there the following morning. I was not able to meet him but I said he could let himself into the back yard. He contacted me the next day from the property, provided me with a quote (which I thought was very reasonable), then started with the work immediately. He then contacted me a few hours later, sent me some before and after photos, and that was that. Fast, efficient, well priced, professional, and excellent communication. I am sure I will be using his services going forward and highly recommend these as well. Thank you Rob.
